About us

Nordic Designers Aid is a Danish organisation working to create social development in South Africa through educational and creative programmes.
Our main target group is children and youth, especially teenagemothers and their children, living in poor, disadvantaged areas of South Africa.

We are part of a network of not-for-profit organisations, institutions and creatives who all share a passion to create a more fair, creative and sustainable world.

Our work in Denmark

We work together with Danish designers who donate their surplus stock and sample collections to us. We sell the clothes – and donate all profit to social upliftment programmes in South Africa.
G
Surplus stock and sample collections often end up in a warehouse collecting dust on the shelves – or, in worst case scenario, is thrown on the dump.

This is a solution that is not environmentally friendly – nor does it make any sense to the designers themselves.
G
They have therefore chosen to donate the clothes to us and to the good cause.

G
We bring the surplus clothes from Denmark to South Africa and sell it in the Cape Town area, in this way making profit out of otherwise discarded clothes.

How do we help?

We spend all profit on programmes that support children and youth from the poorest areas of South Africa.
One of our main goals is to create opportunities for teenage mothers within the creative sector.

G
We take part in the actual planning and implementation of the programmes that we support. An important goal in this regard is to assure that our programmes are helping people to help themselves – in this way building better lives for themselves as well as stronger communities.
