Crafting Hope ran its first Pilot Program in the spring 2017;
the Teenage Girl Empowerment Program, sponsored by Nordic Designers Aid.
G The program was structured and facilitated by Eleftheria Kakambouras, who is a registered Counselor focusing on empowerment & women’s spirituality, an internationally accredited facilitator and founder of Catalyst Facilitation Training. G During the program Eleftheria trained a second facilitator for Crafting Hope, Margo Adams. Margo Adams is a BA Psychology Counselling graduate from Grabouw, currently studying to obtain her Master Degree in the same field. G The Pilot Program G 8 girls from Grabouw attended the program. It was set to run once a week, on a Thursday for 12 weeks, including two weekend workshops. The first 6 sessions of the program focused on Intrapersonal Development, and the last 6 sessions focused on Interpersonal development. G
The program included art journaling as a method of inspiring creativity as a tool for transferring critical thinking, as well as integrating lessons taught in the morning part of the sessions. Most of the art supplies were sponsored by Dala Art Supplies. G The research done during the program as well as the experiences, positive and negative, have helped Crafting Hope structure their next Girl Game Changer Program which Nordic Designers Aid is currently fundraising for. G This next program will be running for a minimum of three years and not be launched until we have been able to fundraise enough money from the Fashion Fundraisers to cover at least one years budget.
